#1 The Ketogenic Cookbook: Nutritious Low-Carb, High-Fat Paleo Meals to Heal Your Body

The Ketogenic Cookbook: Nutritious Low-Carb, High-Fat Paleo Meals to Heal Your Body

The Ketogenic Cookbook is written by Maria Emmerich and Jimmy Moore. Emmerich is a leading authority in health and fitness and dubbed “The Best Ketogenic Recipe Maker”. Moore is a leading keto authority with a previous successful book and podcast

This book promises to help you attain and maintain a state of natural ketosis or simply helps you eat healthier thanks to an amazing hand picked selection of 150 recipes.

The book also promised to help you heal your body of all the damage caused by years of eating sugars and processed foods.

My Review

I was really excited to read this and the added bonus that Jimmy was involved as I am a big fan of Keto Clarity Jimmy’s previous book and I must say, I am impressed.

The photos are gorgeous, the layout is beautifully designed and the recipes are nicely organised with the user in mind.

I found the recipes easy to make and just a treat without having to make tonnes of sauces etc.

Best of all, I have loved being in touch with the author Maria Emmerich. In my line of work I reach out to a lot of people, my experience with Maria has been amazing. She is really supportive and responsive to her fans in spite of a heavy schedule as a business owner and parent. So top marks for caring.

Pros

Very easy and quick recipes to make. All perfect low carb versions.

Beautiful photography and design.

Love the macros for each recipe which is very handy.

Cons

Some recipes require protein powder which some readers don’t like to stock.

Relies a lot on sweeteners such as stevia and xylitol which can put off some people.

Make no mistake. This is a huge book so will take a lot of space on the counter top. A lot of love has gone into this. I personally like the big book but a lot of reader have complained about its size.

Author Q&A

Who is the second most successful person in your opinion and why?
When it comes to writing this book it would have to be my husband. He made all the meal plans and was the support behind me to enable us to get it done with our busy lives by doing dished, taking care of our boys and helping out in every way.

What was your main motivation for writing the book including any personal tie ins?
I have been helping clients with a ketogenic lifestyle for healing for years seeing the amazing results it had for a wide range of conditions. So when Jimmy asked me to be a part of this book and write all the recipes and photos, I was thrilled.
What was your favourite chapter (or part) to write and why?
The photos are my favorite. A lot of time went into getting them right.
Can you tell us about your challenges in getting this book published?
The photos! I learned a lot from the publisher and re-shot the majority of the photos to get the best looking book possible.
There are a plethora of books to choose from on this topic. Why should readers grab a copy of yours?
This one have meal plans, amazing recipes that will help you lose weight and heal and is really beautiful to look at with a big photo for every recipe.
How long did it take to complete this book?
All told over 9 months of work on my part.
How do you feel when someone disagrees with something you have written?
I just hope they research more and understand that this is what the latest science shows in best for short term and long term health.
Can you tell us about any upcoming books?
Yes! My new book “Quick and Easy Ketogenic Cooking” (This is featured in this article as well, because Maria is that good)

#2 Well Fed: Paleo Recipes for People Who Love to Eat

Well Fed: Paleo Recipes for People Who Love to Eat

Well Fed is written by Melissa Joulwan, a fabulous author, roller derby girl and blogger. The book is inspired by her own 90% Paleo diet which she has been following since 2009 ever since her thyroid surgery.

Melissa has dedicated her time to understanding how diet affects hormone levels.

My Review

I was super excited to add this to my Paleo cookbook collection and I wasn’t disappointed.

I love the fact that Melissa offers variations and suggestions on the side of every recipes so that you can add a different touch.

I found the recipes very easy to follow and make with no need for massive preparation during the weekend.

Pros

Great meal planning advice to minimise wastage.

Love the real and unstaged photographs. Looks like the author made the dishes and didn’t use fancy photography. I like that.

Love the suggestions for variations offered by the author.

Cons

Bad quality binding but depends on how people care for their books really

Very small type. This poses a problem for some readers.

Author Q&A

What was your main motivation for writing the book including any personal tie ins?
I wrote this book because I wanted to show people that the paleo diet isn’t really about the things you give up—grains, dairy, sugar, legumes, alcohol—but what you gain: good health, lots of energy, a positive outlook, and vibrancy. And I wanted people new to paleo to realize that the food is delicious, as well as packed with nutrients.

What was your favourite chapter (or part) to write and why?

I like the Hot Plates section of the book because it gives readers recipes AND teached them how to cook so they can experiment and make the recipes their own.

There are a plethora of books to choose from on this topic. Why should readers grab a copy of yours?

In addition to being stuffed with 115+ delicious recipes and variations that are both Paleo and Whole30 approved, Well Fed also offers two things that I think make it stand out from other Paleo cookbooks. First, it explains how to do a Weekly Cookup so that you have ready-to-go food for snacks and meals every day. It also teaches you how to make “Hot Plates,” a mix-and-match approach to combining ingredients with spices and seasonings to take your taste buds on a world tour. The recipes are as simple as possible, without compromising taste, and they were tested extensively to minimize work and maximize flavor.

How long did it take to complete this book?

About a year and a half.

Can you tell us about any upcoming books?

My new book Well Fed Weeknights will be out in November, 2016!

#3 Quick & Easy Ketogenic Cooking: Meal Plans and Time Saving Paleo Recipes to Inspire Health and Shed Weight

Quick & Easy Ketogenic Cooking: Meal Plans and Time Saving Paleo Recipes to Inspire Health and Shed Weight

This is the second book by Maria Emmerich to make it onto this list. It is no wonder as I think she is the best ketogenic recipe maker on the planet.

My Review

This book is amazing. I love all Maria’s stuff and this dos not disappoint. I found the book to be beautiful and well made.

The recipes were very easy and only needed a few ingredients with stunning photographs to accompany everything.

More than just a cookbook, being a scientist, I like the focus on the science of everything here as well.

Pros

Stunning photographs and well designed recipes.

Helpful icons to tag whether is nut free or egg free for example which is a great help.

Great for anyone starting on a keto or lchf journey.

Cons

The ebook version has some layout and design issues that need to be addressed.

I can’t find any other negatives really. If you want to go on a keto journey, this is the one.

#4 Against All Grain: Delectable Paleo Recipes to Eat Well & Feel Great

Against All Grain: Delectable Paleo Recipes to Eat Well & Feel Great

Danielle Walker has an absolutely remarkable story. She suffered from a crippling autoimmune disease that modern medicine couldn’t cure. She took matters into her own hands and went completely gluten free, grain free and Dairy free life. She now lives a happy life with her family and children (she was told she couldn’t have any kids either)

My Review

I love Danielle Walker and am an avid follower of her blog www.againstallgrain.com. This is why I was really excited to review Against All Grain Delectable recipes.

In this Paleo cookbook, Danielle has amazingly recreated Pre-Paleo favourites and one of the best ones I have seen is her world famous sandwich bread which is the closest thing to whole meal bread I have ever tasted!

The photography is best described as elegant which just looks amazing. The kindle version is perfect with no issues or glitches whatsoever.

Pros

Some amazing gluten free and grain free versions of Pre-Paleo dishes

Stunning photography.

Perfect kindle version to use in your kitchen with no mess of fuss.

Cons

Heavy use of nuts and nut flours which may be a put off for some people.

The recipes are not easy to do. They are quite complex and not suitable for people looking for quick meals.

Some of the “cheat” dishes are really elaborate and complex for example making cheese out of cashew :). I loved doing that but it has definitely put off a lot of readers.

#5 Danielle Walker’s Against All Grain: Meals Made Simple: Gluten-Free, Dairy-Free, and Paleo Recipes to Make Anytime

Danielle Walker's Against All Grain: Meals Made Simple: Gluten-Free, Dairy-Free, and Paleo Recipes to Make Anytime

Our beloved food blogger and best selling author Danielle Walker is featured again with her second book Meals Made Simple.

In contrast to her previous book, against all grain, Danielle shifts her focus to serve up around a 100 easy to make Paleo, gluten free and dairy free meals an desserts.

My Review

I really enjoyed this book and I think it’s definitely suited to beginners. Danielle brings something completely different to her previous book which featured more difficult recipes.

The meal plans are really helpful and as I am a numbers man, I love the nutritional facts for each recipe.

Danielle has taken on board feedback on her previous book and this is a great one for newbies.

Pros

Perfect for beginners

Love the 8 weeks worth of meal plans available.

The shopping lists are very handy and time saving.

Cons

A bit too simple and only suitable for beginners.

Some ingredients are hard to find like orange roughy?

Danielle has too many Paleo fied treats which works for some people but defeats the objective in my opinion.

#6 The Wild Diet: Go Beyond Paleo to Burn Fat, Beat Cravings, and Drop 20 Pounds in 40 days

The Wild Diet: Go Beyond Paleo to Burn Fat, Beat Cravings, and Drop 20 Pounds in 40 days

The Wild Diet is brought to you by Abel James from the Fat Burning man show which is an award winning podcast. In this book Abel James challenges readers to ditch all the processed crap and get back to basics eating whole, wild foods for 40 days and lose 20 pounds.

My Review

I am a massive fan of Abel James and his first cookbook the Fat Burning Chef is the reason I succeeded at Paleo.

I couldn’t wait for The Wild Diet and I was impressed. Abel throws in some amazing actionable advice and his humour really shines through in this book.

This book will really teach you to get back to your roots and eat good and nutritious wild food and reverse the damage done by years of poor eating.

Pros

Awesome collection of whole recipes

Disturbing eye openers on the realities of the chemicals used in the food industry

I love the humour from Abel.

Cons

Not great for people looking for cheat recipes.

Some of the information on fasting is not very clear unless you follow his podcast which details this further.

Abel focused more on doing prep and storage to make the week easier. Some readers saw this as an inconvenience as some would like to just pick up a recipe, cook and eat.

The Wild Diet: Go Beyond Paleo to Burn Fat, Beat Cravings, and Drop 20 Pounds in 40 days is available on Amazon and you can save a lot of money by checking out some of their bundles

#7 Nom Nom Paleo: Food for Humans

Nom Nom Paleo: Food for Humans

Michelle is the “Martha Stewart” of Paleo and if you pickup a copy of Nom Nom Paleo, you will understand why. She is a multi award winning author, blogger and the iPad app is one of the most downloaded in history in the cooking space!

My Review

This is a big and beautiful book. Solid with some amazing pictures and art.

The recipes are simply awesome! I love Asian inspired cuisine and this is one of my all time favourite cookbooks.

The variety available in nom nom Paleo is simply outstanding!

Pros

Beautifully designed and presented book. No expense spared here.

Simply delicious recipes that are amazing!

Interesting cooking style with a lot of umami to dance on your tastebuds

Cons

Some palates may not like the salty and lily food here but I love it!

Some readers have complained that Michelle has a bigger selection of recipes on her website for free than this book.

Doesn’t feature the usual pantry, you will need to get some special ingredients.

Nom Nom Paleo: Food for Humans is available on Amazon. Save money with these bundles

#8 Practical Paleo: A Customized Approach to Health and a Whole-Foods Lifestyle

Practical Paleo: A Customized Approach to Health and a Whole-Foods Lifestyle

Diane Sanfillipo is an award winning author and certified nutritional consultant. Her specialities are blood sugar levels and digestive health. She also runs the successful blog and podcast, balanced bites.

Practical Paleo is a great recipe book containing important information such as allergen labelling and FoodMaps. This is packed with over 120 recipes

The focus on this book is planning meals specifically to support anyone with autoimmune conditions or someone just looking to eat healthy.

My Review

I found Diane’s book quite unique to other Paleo cookbooks. She uses her status as a nutritional consultant to combine Paleo and functional medicine. This is especially important for people suffering from ailments.

An example of how Diane tackles this is a 30 day meal plan for thyroid health for instance is an example of how Diane combines Paleo and functional medicine in this cookbook.

Pros

Great tailored meal plans specifically for certain health conditions.

Unique Paleo recipes.

Great diagrams and illustrations that are easy to follow.

Cons

Some recipes for certain health conditions need editing. For example potato pancakes on a meal plan without eggs includes eggs?

Recommends too many supplements whic may put off some people on a whole food approach.

The recipe and calculated number of servings need to be looked at as some just don’t add up.

#9 The Autoimmune Paleo Cookbook: An Allergen-Free Approach to Managing Chronic Illness

The Autoimmune Paleo Cookbook: An Allergen-Free Approach to Managing Chronic Illness

The autoimmune Paleo cook book is written by Mickey Trescott. Trescott is cook, writer, photographer and the blogger behind Autoimmiine Paleo. This book is inspired by her own struggles with an autoimmune condition.

My Review

Being empathetic to a friend of mine who suffers from a severe autoimmune condition, I have struggled to help create a meal plan for him until I found this book.

The recipes are exciting and make meal times for my friend extremely pleasurable.

I like the way the recipes are organised and laid out for simplicity.

Pros

Stunning design and well thought of autoimmune cookbook.

Love the meal plans and grocery planning.

Very unique recipes great for anyone struggling with autoimmune conditions.

Cons

Readers have expressed the need for a bit more variety in ingredients.

This is ideal for beginners and not for anyone with advanced culinary skills

Far too reliant on coconut. What do you do if you are allergic to it?

I Appreciate you!

Thank you for reading,

I hope this article helped you choose from the best paleo cookbooks on the market. Any one of these 9 books are a great way to lead a sustainable paleo lifestyle. Worked for me.

Paleo Diet Meal Plan UK And For All

When I think of the Paleo diet, for me it’s eating all the best things in life the way they were meant to be eaten. For example, why stuff your guy full of genetically modified mutant chickens when you can just enjoy the beautiful flavours of organic free range chicken that tastes great and also doesn’t pump your body full of crap.

Ever wondered why obesity, heart disease and diabetes are modem diseases? Just take a look at pictures of your grandparents or great grandparents (if you are lucky enough). Were they obese?

The beauty of Paleo and one of the main reasons I chose to follow a Paleo lifestyle (which changed my life massively may I add) is that this is a lifestyle not a diet.

What I mean by this is that nothing is set in stone and it’s just governed by some simple principles that are easy to follow and stick to.

Let me give you an example, I was on the Dukan diet (remember this) a long time ago. The diet actually stipulate I eat 7 slices of turkey for breakfast! Life is complicated enough, I don’t need to keep count of how many slices of turkey I eat.

Anyways, rant over. Here are the basic principles of Paleo

IMG_5218

Eat loads of fish, meat, eggs, vegetables, nuts, seeds, herbs, spices, healthy fats and oils.

Stay away from processed crap, sugar, soft drinks, genetically modified crap, grains, dairy (most of them), legumes, vegetable oils and trans fats.

What helps me avoid foods if not sure is take a closer look, if it looks like it’s been tampered with ie with loads of chemicals and crap added to it… Stay away!

Still not sure? Here’s a helpful video

Here’s a basic sample Paleo diet meal plan uk

This is a very simple and basic one from authority nutrition

For two people, a weekly shop costs about £60 ($86 US dollars) for this meal plan and I recommend cooking for 4 when doing these as this meal plan utilises leftovers for the next day.

Hope this makes sense? You will see what I mean as you read on…

Paleo Diet Recipes For Toddlers – 5 Of The Best

Hey everyone and welcome to Paleo Diet For Beginners. Since starting the Paleo diet it has taken a year to slowly transition my kids into going Paleo as well. It’s hard at first but a few Paleo diet recipes for toddlers helped me along the way. Here’s 5 of my favourite for you to get started.

Paleo Diet Recipes For Toddlers

Paleo teriyaki chicken skewers

Sauteed Kale (1)
This homemade teriyaki sauce recipe is way better than the standard garbage from stores. It only uses minimal honey and the dates sweeten the sauce. No thickening agent is needed unlike the store bought crap because the onions work to thicken this as well.

Serves: 8-10

Ingredients

½ Sweet Onion, chopped
1 T. Coconut Oil
10 Small Dates, chopped
2 t. Garlic, minced
2 T. Orange Juice Concentrate
¾ C. Coconut Aminos
¼ C. Honey
2 T. Rice Vinegar
½ t. Real Salt
Pinch of Chili Flakes (optional)
2 Large Chicken Breasts, cut into 1” cubes
½ Pineapple, cored and cut into 1” cubes
Roughly chopped Cilantro, to garnish
8-10 Wooden Skewers, soaked in water for 20 minutes

Instructions

Heat the coconut oil in a small sauce pan. Add the onion and sauté on medium heat for 2-3 minutes, or until it becomes translucent and soft. Add the garlic and sauté for another 30 seconds. Add the dates, orange juice concentrate, coconut aminos, honey, vinegar, salt, and chili flakes(if using) to the sauce pan and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat and simmer for 5 minutes. Mixture should have started to thicken a bit and dates should be soft.
Pour the mixture into a blender and puree until very smooth and thick.
Place the cubed chicken in a container or Ziploc bag and pour ¾ of the teriyaki sauce over it. Seal and let marinate in the refrigerator overnight, or for at least 30 minutes. Marinate overnight for best flavor. Reserve the rest of the teriyaki sauce in an airtight container and refrigerate.
When ready to make the skewers, thread the marinated chicken and pineapple cubes onto the soaked wooden skewers, alternating each item. You should end up with 8-10 skewers, depending on how heavily you thread them.
Preheat a grill, making sure to oil the grates before doing so.
Grill the skewers on all sides until cooked through, basting with the reserved teriyaki sauce while they cook.
Serve garnished with cilantro.

Curried and baked Zucchini chips

Sauteed Kale (2)

Replace the crappy store bought crisps and chips with these awesome baked zucchini chips. The kids will love it and we

Love it to satisfy our crunch cravings.

Ingredients

2 medium/large Zucchini
1 T. Olive Oil
¼ t. Curry Powder
⅛ t. Garlic Powder
⅛ t. Real Salt

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 225 degrees. Line 2 baking sheets with 2 sheets of parchment paper that have been very lightly brushed with olive oil.
Cut the ends of the zucchini off and discard. Very thinly slice the zucchini into paper thin rounds. A mandolin is preferable for doing this, but if you don’t have one, a very sharp knife will work fine. Slice carefully!
Place the zucchini rounds in a single layer on the prepared parchment lined baking sheets. Place them close together but don’t let the zucchini rounds touch each other.
Brush the tops of the zucchini with olive oil.
Combine the curry powder, garlic powder, and salt in a small bowl and sprinkle evenly over oil coated zucchini slices.
Bake in the oven for at least 1 hour. After 1 hour, check on the chips. The time it takes for them to become crisp will vary depending on how thinly you sliced them. When they are dry and crisp, they are ready to be removed. You may need to remove a few chips at a time, letting those that aren’t quite ready cook a bit longer.
When the chips have cooled, store in an airtight container.

Paleo Thai Chicken Pizza Recipe

Sauteed Kale (3)

what an awesome recipe with bold flavours and colours. The Paleo cheese in this is made with coconut milk and egg yolk and is absolutely genius to hold everything together and give a bit of flavour. You can make it easier by buying store bought chilli sauce but I have included recipe for those hardcore Paleos.

Ingredients

1 Paleo Pizza Crust
Paleo Sweet Chili Sauce
1 Red Chili, seeds removed
1 Garlic Clove
2 T. Apple Cider Vinegar
⅛ t. Real Salt
½ t. Arrowroot Starch
¼ C. Water
¼ C. Honey
Thai Pizza Toppings
½ Small Zucchini, thinly sliced into rounds
½ Red Bell Pepper, thinly sliced
⅛ Red Onion, thinly sliced
½ C. Chicken, cooked and shredded
1 Egg Yolk
3 T. Coconut milk (canned)
¼ t. Real Salt
2 T. Chopped Fresh Cilantro

Instructions

Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
Prepare the Thai Sweet Chili Sauce – Place the chili, garlic, vinegar, and salt in a blender and blend until the chili and garlic are finely chopped. Place the mixture in a small saucepan. Mix the arrowroot starch and 1 t. of the water together in a small bowl. Add rest of the water in, mix together, and stir into the chili mixture in the saucepan. Stir the honey into the saucepan and bring to a simmer on medium/high heat. Once the mixture thickens, remove from heat and set aside.
Prepare the pizza crust according to recipe directions, patting into a round and transferring to a pizza stone on a sheet of waxed paper. After the waxed paper has been peeled away, place in the preheated oven for 5 minutes.
Remove pizza crust from oven and spread the chili sauce evenly over the crust using a spoon or pastry brush. Top the sauce with the zucchini slices, distributing evenly over the crust, followed by the red bell pepper, chicken, and red onion.
Mix together the coconut milk, egg yolk, and salt in a small bowl. Pour evenly over the crust and toppings.
Bake again for 7-10 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and vegetables are somewhat wilted.
Remove from oven and sprinkle the chopped cilantro over the pizza.

Paleo sweet and sticky BBQ chicken

Mmmm finger lickin good. These are absolutely amazing and kids will demolish this. Mine do 🙂

Ingredients

4 oz. Tomato Paste
1 T. Olive Oil
2 t. Chopped Garlic
⅛ t. Cumin
½ t. Chili Powder
½ t. Ground Mustard
⅓ C. 100% Juice Pineapple Concentrate
⅓ C. Pure Maple Syrup
¼ C. Apple Cider Vinegar
1 t. Real Salt
12 Chicken Legs or Skinless Bonless Thighs

Instructions

Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
Heat the olive oil on medium heat in a saucepan. Add the tomato paste, garlic, cumin, chili powder, and ground mustard to the oil and sauté for 30 seconds.
Add the pineapple concentrate, maple syrup, apple cider vinegar, and salt to the saucepan and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to a simmer and Let the sauce cook for 5 minutes. Remove from heat.
Place the chicken in a 9×13 baking dish. Pour the sauce over the chicken, making sure all surfaces are coated. Bake on the center rack of preheated oven for 90-105 minutes, or until chicken is very tender.

Paleo Mac and Cheese Recipe

Sauteed Kale (5)

I loved Mac and cheese when I was growing up and my kids do too. In my quest to find the perfect Paleo alternative, I came across this genius idea to make a cheese sauce. The author even uses carrots for the cheesy colour! Talk about going all out 🙂

Serves: 4

Ingredients

1 ½ heads Cauliflower
2 T. Grass-fed Butter or coconut oil
½ t. Real Salt
¼ C. Water
2 T. Grass-fed Butter or coconut oil
1 small Yellow Squash (Summer squash), cut into small cubes
1 small Carrot, peeled and diced
½ Small Sweet Onion, diced
½ t. Garlic Powder
¾ t. Ground Mustard
1 t. Real Salt
1 can Coconut Milk
1 Egg Yolk
Pepper, to taste

Instructions

FOR THE CAULIFLOWER:
Option 1 – Cut the stalks and leaves off of the cauliflower and break it into small pieces. Add the cauliflower to an Instant Pot with one cup of water and set it to manual on lower pressure for 3 minutes.
Option 2 – Cut the stalks and leaves off of the cauliflower and break it into small pieces. Add the cauliflower to a large sauté pan as well as the 2 T. butter, ½ t. salt, and water. Place on medium/high heat and cover with a lid. Let the cauliflower stead inside the pan for about 5 minutes, until mostly tender. Check the water levels every few minutes to make sure that it doesn’t all evaporate. When almost tender, remove the lid and let the cauliflower sauté for a minute or two, or until lightly caramelized in spots. Turn heat off, cover, and keep warm until ready to toss with the cheese sauce.
FOR THE CHEESE SAUCE:
Heat the 2 T. butter in a saucepan over medium/high heat. Add the squash, carrot, onion, garlic powder, mustard, and salt to the melted butter.
Sauté for 5 minutes, or until onion is translucent. Add the can of coconut milk to the saucepan and bring to a simmer. Allow to simmer for about 10 minutes, or until the vegetables are tender and the coconut milk has reduced by ⅔ and is thick.
Pour the vegetables and coconut milk into a blender and puree until very, very smooth. Immediately add an egg yolk to the puree and blend well. The hot puree will cook the egg which will thicken the sauce and give it a rich texture.
Check seasonings and add more salt or pepper to taste.
Pour over the hot cauliflower and toss to coat.
Serve.

Autoimmune Paleo Diet Psoriasis

Welcome to Paleo diet for beginners. Last week’s article on Paleo diet rheumatoid arthritis really got a lot of people getting involved and got me thinking, are there any ways the Paleo diet could be bad for an autoimmune disease? Then I came across autoimmune paleo diet psoriasis.

Too many people in the world suffer needlessly from psoriasis due to incorrect or delayed diagnosis, inadequate treatment options and insufficient access to care.

World Health Organization Resolution on Psoriasis, May 2014

Autoimmune Paleo Diet Psoriasis

For some of you, this article may be disappointing or sad to read as we delve deeper into the Paleo diet and the Paleo lifestyle, it’s easy to fall into the trap that the Paleo diet will cure or improve virtually any disorder and autoimmune condition.

A friend of mine from Paleo mom had a completely different story to tell. She had lichen psoriasis and after switching to the Paleo diet, her condition actually got worse!

Wait! Don’t run for the carbs or the Jamie Oliver cookbook!

Paleo mom found a solution. A few modifications of the Paleo diet and she was back on track. What are the modifications, I will get to that in a second.

What is psoriasis a quick look

So I am guessing you are thinking, what the hell is parodiasis? According to Wikipedia it’s a long lasting autoimmune disease that is characterised by abnormal looking patches in the skin (like the image below)

Untitled design (2)

These abnormal patches are red with white scales and could cover even 90% of the body. Patients report that the ‘scales’ are very dry, itchy and in some cases painful.

Psoriasis is not contagious so don’t worry about contact. It’s a genetic disorder and how it works is the defect in the genes causes the patients own immune system to attack the skin cells leading to these scaly patches.

Currently there is no cure for psoriasis (like many other autoimmune diseases) and the only thing doctors prescribe are steroid creams and the usual crap. Diet does help and the Paleo mom explains how she modified the Paleo diet to manage psoriasis

Modify Paleo for psoriasis

First step is to cut out eggs, nuts and nightshades from your diet completely.

The Paleo mom also says, if you have psoriasis, you cannot cheat ever never ever. All dairy must be removed from the diet not even grass fed butter (or any new Paleo additions).

The Paleo mom also recommends only high quality meat that is grass fed to minimise presence of hormones and other chemicals which are harmful for psoriasis. This is expensive but can you really put a price on quality of life?

Her journey took her about 4 months to get rid of her psoriasis. She reports that in some cases it could take 2 months and 2 years in others, it just spends on the person.

I guess, what anyone can take from here is that quality of life can be achieved even after you have been inflicted with psoriasis and you could even possibly cure psoriasis with the Paleo diet but with a few tweaks along the way.

I Appreciate you!

Thank you for reading,

I hope this article helped you understand Autoimmune Paleo Diet Psoriasis. Its crazy how just a few small tweaks in your diet could actually improve the quality of your life.

Paleo Diet Rheumatoid Arthritis

Hey everyone and welcome to Paleo diet for beginners and today’s article is about paleo diet rheumatoid arthritis. I know I briefly touched on the Paleo diet vs rheumatoid arthritis citing the Wahls experiment check it out if you missed it.

My message is – keep moving. If you do, you’ll keep arthritis at bay.

Donna Mills

Paleo Diet Rheumatoid Arthritis

I am going to share with you today a story sent in by one of our readers, Hayley. This is a story of how switching to the Paleo diet literally saved Hayley’s life from rheumatoid arthritis.

Hayley was diagnosed of rheumatoid arthritis at the tender age of 22 whilst studying for a sports science degree. This is after months of seeing different doctors and begging for help.

She recalls her fingers being so numb that as was almost paralytic, she couldn’t even dress herself. She had to ask her roommate to put her bra on and get her dressed so that she could go and see the doctor.

Some days, it would go away and then other days she couldn’t even unscrew the cap of her toothpaste tube to brush her teeth. This was torture.

rheumatoid arthritis or RA is an autoimmune disease that causes your body to attack its own cells as it has stopped being able to tell the difference between your cells and foreign cells. Currently there is no cure for arthritis and all doctors can do is help you manage this disease by giving you steroids such as Prednisone and other corticosteroids.

Problem with these steroids are the scary side effects. Prednisone for example leads to osteoporosis which will later haunt you in life and also leads to weight gain which is a whole host of a different set of problems to deal with. Other drugs for example have really harmful side effects reduction in white blood cells etc.

In addition to the scary side effects, your quality of life will significantly diminish. I mean, who wants to live their lives constantly having to medicate?

Hayley was on these medications for 2 years. During this time, she could not get pregnant (one of the side effects of one of the drugs she was on). She was overweight, single and now getting clinically depressed.

In 2014, a friend of hers mentioned a sustainable way to lead a gluten free diet by following the Paleo lifestyle. This is when Hayley found me and I shared with her how I felt ever since I switched to the Paleo diet (properly). I told her that I felt less moody, felt full of life and energy and thought she should have give it go. I also shared a story of how a reader called shirisha shared a story of how a Paleo diet helped her husband overcome Theimatoid arthritis.

Hayley consulted with her doctor to check if this is ok and the doctor said he didn’t know! It was clear that the doctors didn’t know what the hell was going on so it was time to try something new.

Hayley turned to the paleo diet rheumatoid arthritis to see if this would help and took the 30 day challenge with us. Her family has been super supportive through this whole process and has been doing the same.

It has been over 17 weeks (when Hayley sent this in) and she is still on the Paleo diet. He flare ups are nearly non existent and she is off her medication to the amazement of her doctors.

Hayley lives a great life now with high quality and not having to worry about when the best flare up will crippled her. Hayley is yet another example of using paleo diet rheumatoid arthritis.

I Appreciate you!

Thank you for reading,

Snacks For Paleo Diet – Why a lot fail

A lack of snacks for paleo diet is one of the biggest reasons that people fail on the Paleo diet due to not being able to break their old habits of snacking. Why does this happen? It’s because of the lack of knowledge when it comes to snacks for Paleo diet meal plans.

Take a moment to join our community (if you haven’t already). Its free and you get a free ebook perfect for Paleo Diet Beginners. We also publish a FREE weekly recipe and weekly article of interest. Thank you for your time, I appreciate you!

Snacks for Paleo Diet

When I first started out on the Paleo journey, I failed because of this as well as I just didn’t have any Paleo diet snack ideas due to my limited knowledge. I mean I used to go and pick up a bag of crisps and knew exactly what I wanted but after starting on the Paleo diet, I just didn’t have a clue.

What about Snacks for Paleo Diet Out of the box services?

This is when I started looking for Paleo snack services which are pretty much like graze and the subscription type model of business which was a great idea at the start but quickly got very expensive and wasn’t feasible at times.

Then after falling off the bandwagon a few times, I asked myself, why not make these myself? Now I know this takes a bit more time and effort but let me tell you, this is well worth everything.

The result is that now I have a whole host of snacks for my Paleo diet and I even mix things up for myself to keep things exciting.

Furthermore, I have no fear of consuming non-toxic chemicals that may be present in these snack boxes. Don’t get me wrong, I am not saying these companies do that but you never know do you unless you do it yourself. Remember, Nando’s here in the uk served a bit of frog in their salad 🙁

So how did I do this?

A quick search on Google will give you a whole host of snack ideas for Paleo diet. Some are great, some are good, some are just shit and others, well far too complicated.

Simplicity is my game so below, I will share with you my favourite Paleo snack ideas that I have in case hunger strikes and I need to satisfy my cravings.

Snacks are essential when you start off on Paleo but you won’t need that many when you are on it properly

A special note on snacking on the Paleo diet. What you will find after being on the Paleo diet for a couple of months is that the need to snack will drastically reduce and sometimes I only consume 2 meals a day because I was getting all the nutrients that I needed.

It’s easy to fall into the ‘eating fruits and nuts’ trap but if these are not consumed in moderation, you will put on weight and fat so be careful with this one. I made this mistake when starting out.

If I had to choose one nut that I have researched is the healthiest, I would go for the macadamia nuts.

Our friends at Paleo leap make a great macadamia nut hummus which just tastes awesome and replaces standard hummus and is much more healthier.

Another great snack for Paleo diet idea is my version of kale crisps. What you do here is break the kale into small pieces and spread in a baking tray.

Then spray some coconut oil over them and coat with a few crushed soup cubes. I use beef soup cubes and then place in preheated oven at 180C for 12 minutes or until it’s just browning. Voila, kale crisps to keep those cravings away.

This is my go to Paleo diet snack idea.

Remember, a lot of people fail because they don’t have a plan and having some ideas of snacks for the Paleo diet will ensure that you have a plan to succeed.

Trust me, it’s worth it.

I Appreciate you!

Thank you for reading,

I hope this article will help you be prepared for the journey that lies ahead. Snacks for Paleo diet are a great tool to have in your arsenal when hunger strikes.

Paleo Diet For Beginners 2016

Paleo Diet For Beginners 2016

Hello everyone and welcome to this very special edition of Paleo diet for beginners 2016

I just wanted to get in touch with you to wish you a very merry Christmas and a happy new year!

I also wanted to share with you my experiences of 2015 and my plans for 2016. I would also love to hear from you regarding your plans for the new year and how this year has been.

My year at a glance 2015

I have to say that 2015 has been my best year so far. I started 2015 at my ideal weight and wanted to now build muscle and definition.

The start of 2015 signalled the end of my battle with weight loss and I owe my successes to the Paleo diet which I began around 18 months ago to this day.

My baby daughter Cara was born in 2015 to make our clan a team of 4 now and she is doing extremely well.

Paleo diet for beginners was born in 2015 as well and I built this to share my experiences of the Paleo diet and hopefully this will help some beginners take that leap of faith and jump straight into the Paleo diet.

I made Paleo diet for beginners as a resource that I wish I had when I was first starting out on the Paleo diet but didn’t have all the information and guidelines. The result was that I wasted about 6 months of my life getting on and off the Paleo lifestyle as I didn’t know what not to do.

If I can help one person by saving time and pointing them in the right direction so that they have all the knowledge and resources to embark on the Paleo diet, then Paleo diet for beginners is a success in my eyes.

Paleo Diet For Beginners 2016

My son Noah will be going off to school in 2016 (how time flies :)) and he is a big boy now.

I plan to launch an online store dedicated to health and fitness products which would be perfect to complement Paleo diet for beginners and will feature all the latest up and coming health and fitness related gizmos and gadgets.

www.leanrepublic.co.uk

I also plan to launch a website dedicated to gaining weight the right way. There are some of us (myself included) that after losing the weight would like to add some muscle and definition but not fat. This website will share information on this.

www.workouthacks.org

I am really excited to bring to you my new articles and recipes to Paleo diet for beginners 2016!

Changes in the Paleo movement.

In 2015 what I noticed was that even the most hardcore of Paleo dieters started to get a little forgiving.

Times have changed (for the better in my opinion) it’s good to have a cheat option available for you once a week when you have hit your weight and fitness target.

I have pizza sometimes on a Saturday so I can keep cravings at bay and not relapse one day.

I started 2015 as a hardcore Paleo fanatic and I am going into 2016 with an optional cheat day so I keep my sanity. I have achieved my weight and fitness goals, now I can relax.

Do whatever works for you.

What to expect in 2016

Paleo diet for beginners 2016 will see a continuation of the website’s content schedule.

I will share a free weekly recipe as always and a weekly article on the Paleo movement so we can all comment, discuss and learn from one another.
